The Sawyer Power Tag Line is a unique, simple, and proven design that utilizes the principles of hydrostatics to provide an adjustable tension powered tagline winch.
An ultra-high efficient Hydraulic Motor is directly attached to the tagline drum eliminating all gears, chains, pulleys and high maintenance mechanical tracks of conventional taglines. The use of direct drive hydraulics eliminates the sophisticated, unreliable and expensive electronics of an electric powered tagline that are required to make an electric motor act un-naturally, that is, to turn slow.
A hydrostatic drive is a natural way to provide constant tension. The tension in the wire rope is directly related to the pressure at the inlet of the motor. Simply varying the pressure at the motor will vary the tension regardless of which way or how fast the tagline drum is turning.
The Sawyer Power Tag provides the operator with a rotary control knob to adjust the ideal tension in the tagline and a direction control joystick for connecting an disconnecting the tagline. These features allow the tagline to be used as a light duty winch. During digging these controls are a “Set it and Forget it” operation.
An optional push button incorporated into one of the main drum controls gives the operator a “Full Boost Pressure” to the Tagline to speed recovery of a twisting bucket or aide in positioning the bucket as needed. Unlike electric taglines, the Boost Feature on a Sawyer Systems Direct Drive Tagline can be used indefinitely.
The picture on the right shows a power tagline nested next to the boom of a Clamshell Dredge.
The small compact size allows them to be mounted in the most ideal location on any crane. The pictures below show other examples and applications for powered taglines.
