Power units designed with the electric motor/pump assemblies mounted vertically are unique to a handful of power unit suppliers. This design is used where floor space is limited, head room is available and in cases with large electric motor horsepower requirements. This is the most common design for Sawyer Systems.
Our engineers and system designers layout the reservoir, motor/pump assemblies and other components to minimize the floor space required taking into consideration the field connections to the hydraulic system and the power feed for the electric motor. They also determine which of the components are best supplied into a hydraulic manifold to minimize the number of external connections.
In most applications our power units are constructed with an electrical enclosure that contains all the control logic for the hydraulic system. More than half are supplied with the motor starter contactor mounted on the unit. The electrical enclosures are designed by our engineering staff, fabricated in our UL-508 panel shop and installed by our trained technicians. This complete hydraulic and electric capability is unique within most power unit suppliers.
Following fabrication each unit is fully function tested in a fully documented Factory Acceptance Test. Our clients are invited to attend and witness the test procedure. With testing completed the units are painted to our customers specifications and made ready for shipment.
The example shown to the right is one part of a two-skid system. The full power unit is a five (5) x 100 HP variable volume system that supplies the primary hydraulic functions on an Offshore Drilling Rig.
